I'm a new XSB user and I read about the relation-level and view-level
interfaces in part 2 of the XSB manual, "XSB-ODBC Interface," and I was
wondering whether this functionality could be implemented for the
dbdrivers interface in a straightforward manner, or should I foresee
technical difficulties with such a port?
Perhaps more importantly, does anyone have know how this approach would
perform/scale for recursive queries against a large data source sitting
on an external RDBMS? The recent figures I have for XSB's performance
are very encouraging:
Liang, Fodor, Wan, Kifer. OpenRuleBench: an analysis of the performance
of rule engines. WWW 2009, Madrid, Spain.
However, it is my understanding that for the experiments in that paper,
all facts were asserted in main memory rather than retrieved using a
relation-level or view-level interface. In my scenario, having an this
is not a possibility-- I must connect to the RDBMS.
Any pointers, ideas, suggestions will be most appreciated.
