    Please check  hibernate.connection.url in xplanner-custom.properties
    It should be something like

     hibernate.connection.url=jdbc:mysql://localhost/xplanner

    if you are using mysql

    So I had to change

    hibernate.connection.url=jdbc:hsqldb:file:hsqldb/xplanner

    to something with a full path.  It must have been some sort of permission problem or something.

    hibernate.connection.url=jdbc:hsqldb:file:/local/xplanner-plus/hsqldb/xplanner
