    Hello,

Coming from a Windows background I'm struggling with the setup of this application. Can anyone help?

I tried following the installation for the old xplanner, but was stopped at the stage where I should be setting up the database schema. All-of-a-suddent the instructions called for me to run an ant script.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm probably over thinking this.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hello,

We have no ant build file, since we moved to maven.

To finish installation you need to create database and user that have all rights to this database.

Also you need to setup email notification.

xplanner.mail.smtp.host=localhost        # enter your SMTP host

xplanner.mail.from=xplanner@example.org # enter the email sender for XPlanner messages

    That's all.

    maximch,

I appreciate the quick reply…I'm still stuck maybe you can help?

1.) database is created and all rights given. (basically following instructions provided here: http://xplanner.org/install.html)
    2.) email notification setup (thanks!)

I downloaded xplanner-plus. I modified the custom.properties.xml, etc. Now comes (obviously) the newbie part. I know that xplanner-plus is a servlet and the source needs to be put somewhere so I can navigate to it….and that is where I'm stuck.

Where do I put the contents (files/folders/etc) of "xplanner-plus.zip"?
How do I navigate and launch a browser session (whats the url?)

I have tomcat, mysql, and jdk installed and configured.

Note: I've never used tomcat before….likely the source of my confusion.

    Many thanks!
    Tom

    1. Shutdown tomcat

    2. The simplest way is just  unpack content of xplanner-plus.zip to tomcat/webapps/xplanner-plus folder.

    3. Start tomcat.

    4. Open in browser http://localhost:8080/xplanner-plus

    5. You will see login page. Default username/password is sysadmin/admin

    You are welcome!

    maximch,

Almost there I hope…I unpacked to the following location:

    C:\Program Files\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\xplanner-plus

    I see the following files in C:\Program Files\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\xplanner-plus:

    calendar

    css

    editTimeEntries.js

    files

    form.js

    images

    index.jsp

    js

    META-INF

    overlib.js

    time.js

    toggle.js

    WEB-INF

    xplanner-plus-activity.log

    …but when i navigate to http://localhost:8080/xplanner-plus/

I get HTTP Status 404 Resource not available

To test, I navigated to http://localhost:8080/
and indeed I see the apache tomcat default homepage.

    I then create a folder C:\Program Files\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\test\
and copy pasted the contents of \ROOT to it. To continue the test I
navigated to http://localhost:8080/test/ and again, I saw
the default home page. This tells me the Apache tomcat service
    is operating correctly.

Back to me being a newbie; the reason I am showing you the files above
in \xplanner-plus is that I don't see a index.html file. How is the
browser supposed to launch without this file?

Maybe I am supposed to build the servlet using the jdk and it generates
    a .html file?

    Stuck…

    Thanks!
    Tom

No. You don't need to generate anything. It's looks like configuration or environment issue. Can you create support ticket and attach logs for it.

Logs should be in xplanner-plus.log inside tomcat/webapps/xplanner-plus. If you can't find it, you may look for catalina.log inside tomcat/logs

    Maximch,

Will do, I found the logs and will attach them to a ticket.

…looks like just catalina.log, the other one is 0KB in size.

    Thanks
