Hi Everyone, Sorry for the delay in development/bug-fixes/e-mail replies/etc.. I'm still settling in to my new job so xP developments are going to be a little sparse until I get myself into a nice happy little rut. ;) Here's what up next for xP development. 1. The installer currently expects a larger xP source tarball then actually exists. There is a current workaround for this if you download the source tarballs from http://xpine.sourceforge.net/xpine and tell the installer the files are "ALREADY" on your local machine (there's a radio button for this option). But I WILL FIX the installer so that it no longer expects files of a certain size, but instead gets that information from the HTTP query. 2. Both xP and xP-Installer crash when you click on a button in GNOME/Sawfish. This is a bug in the XClass library which took me almost 2 weeks to track down. I've patched the xP library to fix this bug, but the binary installer on Sourceforge still has this bug. The next release will correct this problem entirely. 3. VERSION RENUMBERING. It occurred to me almost immediately after the last release that 0.0.15 does not reflect the current state of xP development. Therefore, the next release will be numbered 0.1.1. 0.0 implies that the project is still more in planning than it is in development (which was true about 9 months ago), but it has undergone extensive development and most of the design decisions have already been made. The major version number should still be 0 because the base code is still not complete, but the minor version number should be 1 because quite a bit of code has been written. The revision number will be 1 because the last release (0.0.15) should have been 0.1.0. That's all for now. Like I said, I still need to get settled with my job and new life in Seattle (did I mention that?) before I can get back to development. I just wanted you all to know that the project is far from dead. Take care, -bri |
