I'm afraid this isn't the case - I made sure all pine threads were killed and then tried (re)starting it and same async reply from Xlib... The only thing that seems to help is to delete ~/.pinerc and start over. (As a sidenote, the terminal where I start xpine gets all hosed after exiting). I'll see if I can debug it some more and I'll let you know what I come up with. Since you don't seem to get this behaviour at all it would be interesting to know what the environment you are developing on looks like?
