#1 Use XMLRPC

Modify the protocol to use XML-RPC (See
http://www.xmlrpc.com/spec\). This will allow for easy
transportation over http/https. Clients/Server
implementation can then concentrate on information
rather than protocl-specifics. There are a number of
xml-rpc libraries available for various languages which
will make implmentation a lot easier.
