Re: [Xowa-general] bug at wikibooks From: gnosygnu - 2014-08-19 03:09:33 Attachments: Message as HTML Replying to some points below. Let me know if I missed anything. Also, I resolved the de.wikibooks.org/wiki/Kochbuch/_Druckversion issue for v1.8.4 (next Monday). I like to give credit to users for discovering defects. You'd get a line in the XOWA Change log with something like this: * ParserFunctions: Restrict displaytitle to title name when disabled (affects: wrong display title showing up on a page); EX:{{DISPLAYTITLE:Not the page title}}. See: https://de.wikibooks.org/wiki/Kochbuch/_Druckversion {detected by treaki} Let me know if you want to be referred to as treaki, or if you'd rather not be mentioned at all. Thanks. Sending to the list again... ---- Hi! Thanks for the input, and especially for sending the email to the mailing list! I reply to your points below. Let me know if I missed anything. The bug is with {{DISPLAYTITLE}}. I reviewed the MediaWiki code and on most wikis it only uses DISPLAYTITLE if it matches the current page title (case insensitive). XOWA always shows what's in DISPLAYTITLE, regardless of the contents. The logic is a little strange, so it probably won't make it into tomorrow's release. I'll try to add this logic in either v1.8.4 or v1.9.1 Also, you may want to consider downloading the images for the German wikis. You can go to https://archive.org/details/Xowa_dewiki_latest and download the debundle link ( https://archive.org/download/Xowa_dewiki_latest/Xowa_debundle_2014-08-09.7z). This will show images just like the online version. See the attached screenshot from my machine. also i have some feature requests: > > offline mode - a mode that ensures me that no internet connection is > opened and links which would be opened in the browser will require a > confirmation. > XOWA has this feature already. Try the following: * Go to home/wiki/Help:Options/Security * Uncheck "Web access enabled" * Click "Save" (near the upper-left hand corner of the page) This will basically stop XOWA from ever accessing the internet. Note that this switch is absolute, and it means functions like "online import" won't work either. With regards to clicking on links, there isn't a message box. However, you can try this: * Go to home/wiki/Help:Options/Apps * Blank out the two boxes for Web browser * Click "Save" This will stop XOWA from ever opening an external link, even if you click on it. This is usually what I do. If I want to actually visit a url, I usually right click on the url in XOWA and choose Copy and then Paste it into my web browser. > (download) progress window - a window where it is possible to view the > download/import progress a little better as in the status bar > This can take a while. I've been meaning to rewrite some of the import code, but it keeps falling to the back of the list. I've been hoping that the current system is simple enough to use, though it has drawbacks. Out of curiosity, what exactly is wrong with the progress window? Is the text too small? If it is you can increase it on the Main Menu by doing View -> Increase Font Size I'll try to get this done for a v1.10 release (sometime in October). I'm working on HTML dumps right now, and I'd really like to get it done before I work on something new. > cancel import - also in the progress window sould be a way to stop > running processes, the only way i fond for that was restarting the > programm (i started a download by mistake) > This is sort of part of the above, but I think I can add a simple "Cancel" link to both Import pages. If you click on it, it will cancel the current import. I'll try to get this done in the next few weeks. > manage wikis: delete - delete downloaded wikis (after i have canceled my > download by restarting xowa i had to remove the files manually > Okay. That's a fair point. I'll add this to either v1.8.4 or v1.9.1. I'll probably do the following: * Save a marker file at the start of the import * Delete the marker file at the end of the import * If XOWA tries to open a wiki, and the marker file exists, it will warn the user about a corrupt import and prompt to delete the wiki Thanks again for the feedback!

[Xowa-general] bug at wikibooks From: treaki - 2014-08-16 17:15:24 hi, i have tryed out xowa today and i have to say i am very impressed. But i guess i have discovered a bug at site title settings if there are more then one pages put together to a big page like at wikibooks print versions. I have created a screenshot to show the problem exemplary: http://treaki.tk/upload/uploads/1408208633/140816_bug_xowa_wikibooks.png also i have some feature requests: offline mode - a mode that ensures me that no internet connection is opened and links which would be opened in the browser will require a confirmation. (download) progress window - a window where it is possible to view the download/import progress a little better as in the status bar cancel import - also in the progress window sould be a way to stop running processes, the only way i fond for that was restarting the programm (i started a download by mistake) manage wikis: delete - delete downloaded wikis (after i have canceled my download by restarting xowa i had to remove the files manually keep up the good work greetings treaki -- |_|0|_| |_|_|0| |0|0|0| http://treaki.tk/
