Hi, when i am trying to increase the font size , it is changing the application level font size like menus etc , but not the actual wikipedia artlcle font size, so could you tell me what to do or maybe fix it if it is application related , btw i am running the latest version of xowa 1.8.4.1.

Hi! To change the font size of the Url bar, Find box, Tab buttons, try the following:

    • Go to home/wiki/Help:Options/Window
    • Change the "Font size" (or "Font name" if you're so inclined)
    • Click the "Save" button (near the top left corner of the page)

Unfortunately, the menu font size is not changeable. This is a limitation of the underlying SWT GUI toolkit:

If you really want to change the menu font sizes, you have to change it at the OS level. For example, for Windows, go to Control Panel -> Display -> Appearance and change the fonts there.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry, just realized I read your post in reverse. My earlier post was to change the "application font". You want to change the HTML article font. Try the following:

    • Go to home/wiki/Help:Options/HTML
    • Change the "Font size" (or "Font name" if you're so inclined)
    • Click the "Save" button (near the top left corner of the page)

Also, keep in mind, you can do Main Menu -> View -> Increase Font Size. This will increase both the Application font and the HTML font.

Let me know if this doesn't work.

    Thanks.

Well thank you i just figured out that the issue is only with english wikipedia, looks like there is some issue with importing the file....but works well for wikiquote or wikibooks, so i will now give it a try to reimport and let u know, if it is resolved.

Thanks for the active reply for my question , really appreciate it.

Hmm... Just so you know, the setting is a global setting, so it affects all wikis. In other words, if English Wikiquote looks fine, so should English Wikipedia, and all other wikis.

If it still doesn't look right after re-import, try uploading a screenshot, and I'll investigate more.

    Thanks.

Hi, also noticed that the font is not changing only for simple and complete en-wikipedia only , but for others(Wikitionary simple, wikiquote simple and complete, wikibooks simple and complete ,wikivoyage complete) i see the font change reflecting in html part of wikipedia.

Could you let me know if this issue is specific to only me so that i would reimport again, or its a general issue which persists and would be fixed in future.

    Hi,

PFA the two screenshots for instance compared wikibooks with wikipedia.

And as you asked i reimported the simple wikipedia for testing purpose and the font is not changing only for simple wikipedia.

    Thanks for the screenshots.

This turns out to be a bug. The English Wikipedia CSS is different from the other wikis, and the body {font-family: Arial; font-size: 20px;} is handled differently.

    I fixed this for tonight's release (v1.9.3)

Also, I like to credit users who report defects. Let me know if you want a mention in the XOWA change log. Typically, you'd get a line like this: "Css:Fix en.wikipedia.org not using custom font sizes {detected by anonymous}". Let me know if you want a nick, or if you're fine with anonymous.

    Thanks!

Cool. Thanks for the confirm. "Vivek.K" it is.

Just so you know, the accrediting didn't make tonight's release, but the Change Log will be updated for next week's.

The fix though is in tonight's release. One thing to note: I wasn't able to reproduce your screen exactly. My screen showed no effect of the HTML font changes, while yours showed a split version.

In case tonight's release doesn't fix it entirely, try the following:

    • Exit XOWA
    • Make sure you have internet access
    • Delete C:\xowa\user\anonymous\wiki\en.wikipedia.org (I'm using C:\xowa, but change it if you've installed elsewhere)
    • Restart XOWA
    • Visit any en.wikipedia.org page. This will regenerate the deleted files.

If this still doesn't work, we'll probably have to look at the HTML for your page (from "View HTML"). But I'm really hoping that the update should take care of it.

Anyway, thanks again for the report!

Thanks, i downloaded the latest version and the fix solved the problem, but i notice one another minor issue, it is not downloading images from the internet, the earlier version used to download images when i am seeing an article with internet connection.

    Cool. Thanks for the confirmation

it is not downloading images from the internet, the earlier version used to download images when i am seeing an article with internet connection.

That's strange. Check "home/wiki/Help:Options/Files" and make sure "Retrieval enabled" is checked.

    • If it's not checked, check it and try again
    • If it is checked, then try one of the non-downloading pages and look at your log file: Main Menu -> System Data -> Session Log

You can also try renaming C:\xowa\file to C:\xowa\file_old.

    Hope this helps.
