We have a Machintosh here in the office that runs Mac OS X with two
displays; this seems to work flawlessly. Unfortunately I can't play
around with this very machine (the software vendor that makes the
software we run on it owns the machine and the service contract says
they are responible for all system maintenance etc).
I would like to know this: Could I run XFree86 on one display and Aqua
on the other? That would be an almost ideal setup for a
Just too bad that I cannot add another display to my Cube at home:(
(BTW, has anybody tried to?)

There isn't really any way to do this at the present time although it
would not be very hard to do this in the future. It sounds like you
want to do something like run in full screen Quartz mode on one
screen (the secondary screen as far as Aqua is concerned) and leave
the other screen alone in normal Aqua. There are lots of combinations
of how people might want to configure multimonitor setups and right
now we don't allow much option. They all have to be using the same
display mode. The particular option you suggested is one of the most
interesting ones, but we won't be adding this option till after the
XFree86 4.2 release.
