I manage the project, but XDarwin is only "marketed" in so far as myself and other volunteers spend time to spread the word on its usefulness. Speaking of which... the XonX project could use a web master/PR type person if anyone is interested. There is a lot of helpful material we could put on our xonx.sourceforge.net web site, but generally the active developers have felt it is more useful to spend their time improving the code rather then doing documentation and web design. --Torrey |

I was wondering about that. What is your take on http://www.xdarwin.org/ ? They appear to be reselling the XonX project's work, and making it appear in an ambiguous way that they're the ones who did so. Is someone from XonX involved in that? |

Is someone from XonX involved in that? No, XDarwin.Org is run by the MacGIMP folk. Of course, repackaging software with the MIT/X11 license and selling it is perfectly legal. Some people feel they provide a service that is worth paying for apparently. Amusingly the XDarwin.Org forums are much more popular than the equivalent XonX forums and the best web documentation is provided by Fink <http://fink.sourceforge.net/doc/x11/index.php>. I'd like for the XonX project to provide as slick of a web site as XDarwin.Org complete with more technical content, but so far we haven't had anyone with the time and talent. --Torrey |

Do you happen to know where the money for the CDs goes? At $45 to $70 US a CD they must pull in a lot of cash with each one sold. I'm glad that their site does make it clear that you can download the software if you don't want to buy the CDs, but I do think they should make their role in the whole Xdarwin world clear.
