#23 8-bit Rootless/8-bit Emulation

First, it would be nice to run 8-bit mode in rootless. However, the
ideal situation would be to never need 8-bit mode. If applications
that required 8-Plane Pseuocolor (Cadence is the only one I'm
experienced with) could run in TrueColor modes with some sort of
emulation that would be fantastic. This must be possible, When I
use Cadence on a SpacStation, it runs under a Truecolor
environment, its only when the display is exported to my XDarwin
session that I need to start the server specifically in 8-bit mode.
