When the hardware wakes from sleep, the X server does not redraw the screen. The screen is left grey until windows are moved to cause parts of it to be redrawn. This is a problem both in Quartz and IOKit modes. (A workaround in Quartz mode is to switch to the Mac OS X desktop and then back again.) This problem is typically observed on laptops as Mac OS X Public Beta only seems to support true hardware sleep on these models.

Mostly fixed with patch #103353 and in XAqua-0.2.tgz. Power management code is now included in Xdarwin for both Quartz and IOKit modes. The Quartz mode doesn't really work, but I suspect this is due to an imcomplete Power Manager library. Will be closed when included in XFree86 CVS.
