2.5 [OpenNap]: Servers disconnect upon error message
Brought to you by:
leist
I am still having heaps of trouble keeping connected to servers.
Every time they return an error message they disconnect.
Examples: 1. "User not avaliable" after a whois.
2. "Too many pending searches"
3. "File too short"
Can't these errors be ignored or bypassed and the connection
retained ??

Are you sure that the servers actually disconnect?

Servers are disconnected. This can be verified by the Connected
Servers count.

Xnap 3.0 -beta 5 : I also have begun having trouble with
OpenNap servers after installing the Overnet plug-in, which
by the way locks Xnap up when the daemon is running and a
search is performed.
The error messages I receive while trying to connect to
OpenNap servers include: 'wrong number of arguments';
'reconnecting to fast'; 'connection refused'; 'connection
reset'; variable time out issues.
I am not overly upset since I still get plenty of responses
via the giFT daemon and plugin using the Gnutella and
FastTrack protocols. However, I believe the lack of
connection to the OpenNap servers does inhibit my ability to
search for files other than video and music.
I would also like to add that in the compilation of giFT
that I had to make an alteration for successfull compilation
namely in the 'transfer_api.h'. This alteration was with gedit:
..........
.......line# ~175
/*****************************************************************************
EXTERN_C_BEGIN: commented out
*****************************************************************************/
#ifdef _cplusplus //added - I am unsure if it should be 2
__ underscores
extern "C" //added
.........
......line# ~201
/*****************************************************************************
EXTERN_C_END: commented out
*****************************************************************************/
#endif //added
....remainder of header file
I am not sure if this change was required because my version
of gcc (3.3.1) or some other issue that I am still unaware
of. I would enjoy any advice on how to produce a Mandrake
RPM to help distribute the giFT daemon and the Gnutella and
FastTrack protocol so as others may benefit.

Could you please try again with the latest OpenNap plugin release
3.0-pre3 if the disconnect problems still occur?
Concerning the OverNet search releated problem: Could you
please open a separate bug report and explain the problem in
more detail.
The "wrong number of arguments" and "reconnecting too fast"
problems should be fixed.
Thanks.
