    Hey,

great app! I've been looking for something like this and have tried many apps. This is the first one that actually works the way I want it to! :)

However I would like to see the search function improved. Now I can only search the title of the movies. I would like to be able to also search for criteria in additional info, such as location, codec, subtitles, etc etc. Maybe making it possible to search multiple fields at the same time would be nice as well, especially when your DB gets bigger.

Another nice feature would be some sort of a lending DB where you can indicate whether the movie is in your studyroom or at a friends house or something.

    Keep up the good work!

For your lending request, why not just use the additional fields?  I created an additional field called "Checked Out By".

I could do that... I'm thinking of using this app as a basic entry tool, using a MySQL DB. Then create my own PHP app to manage all the info...

      Hi

I'm planning to improve the search function but haven't started on it yet.

      Thanks for the feedback!

It's good to hear that the search function is improving, its the only thing that is lacking. OTher than that its the best movie manager I've seen.

I wouldn't mind seeing searching for actors, directors etc. to be added too, instead of the long route of creating queries for everyone.

      Hi

I updated the help pages a few days ago with a thorough explanation of how to search for practically anything in the movies (Not episodes).

      Feedback is always appreciated!

Yeah I've been looking at that (and I'll admit, I'm still a little confused). I meant using the filter or something.

      Hi

      That is what it's for.
You can search for anything you want in the filter.
      Example:
You define an alias for "General Info"."Language" = lang

Then write in the filter: "{lang:english}" or "{lang:english OR french}" (not including quotes of course).

      Is this more clear?

It's good to get feedback on how to improve the help page as well.

So can you search for a particular actor or director?

I've tried {cast:name of actor here} but it doesn't work.

      Hi

You can search on all the fields, but you need to specify an alias in the Search option dialog for each field.

      Hi!

Previously i had been managing my collection in a very unorganized way..Had just noted the names of the movies & year of release in an excel file..Though I've been able to import those details to this software, but for more info on a particular flick using IMDb, I've to update each entry one-by-one..
Is it possible that my entire collection gets updated with IMDb info with just a few clicks?
Any help would be aapreciated! :)

PS: Love the application..Thanx a ton for it! :)

      Hi

You can update all the movie entries by using the "Update IMDb Info" under the Tools menu.

      Thanx Bro..

Since I didn't have that option, I realized that I was using an older version of MMM (2.31)..Have now upgraded to 2.41 & can see this "Update IMDb Info" option..

But there's still an issue..It only updates those entries that I've previously updated one-by-one using the previous version of the software..
To be more specific, when I hit "Start" (after selecting all update options), it directly goes to 54% and continues from there..
      Any suggestions?

      TIA :)

      Hi

You're absolutely correct, I didn't this of that.

It won't help you at all unless the IMDb id is stored already, so I guess importing movie titles from text file or excel is the best way. When importing you can then chose to retrieve IMDb info on each movie.

I'll take a look at the update function to include all entries including those without IMDB id.

      Thanks for the feedback.

Thanx nonetheless..Since I didn't really have a huge collection, I was able to update it one-by-one..So its cool for now.. :)
Its an already fantastic application & its gr8 to see you guys trying to make it even better..

      Kudos!

      Bro.

This program is awesome!  I added the "Loaned to" as a field but had to write my own reports in access to see who borrowed stuff from me.  Could there be an imported report list for such instances?

        Hi

I presume that this field would be empty when it's not loaned out.

You can get all the movies that are loaned out this way:
Go to the search settings (4th button in the toolbar).

Go to the "Additional Info" tab.
In the text field for the "Loaned to" field, write an alias e.g. "loaned".

After saving, write the following in the filter:
        {loaned: NOT ""}

What it does is to ask for all the movies where the loaned field is not empty.
