XML::XSLT is not dead just rather sluggish.
I have made a release today to CPAN and sourceforge of 0.47 of the
module. This contains a number of bug fixes, most importantly with
respect to the handling of variables and includes a few more tests.
Please feel free to direct any bug reports, patches, offers of help or
flames toward me.
