Yes, I added --disable-static-libs because a packager said Fedora
requires use of shared libraries. I am probably going to make use of
shared libs the default on Linux anyways.

I guess it would a good idea if they don't work on other distros, but
maybe someone who knows something about rpms can comment on this.
