hi, it would be cool if xmlstarlet could support
creating/applying XML diffs, while when you search
sourceforge and freshmeat you'll notice that there are
SOME XML diff utilties available, you'll also notice
that there's basically not any single WORKING version
available, in fact the majority of tools does not only
have very limited use, but has also significant
external dependencies (i.e. JAVA/.NET!).

So, adding such features to XMLStarlet could really
complete it totally and make it an even more useful tool.

    if something like this gets implemented, please also
    consider optionally supporting comments in the XML file to
    be included in the final patch, this is one of the
    weaknesses that some of the existing tools have (also
    retaining formatting would then be useful).

    maybe this could be implemented as a google summer of code project for 2008?
