I'd like to make a note on behalf of Rainer Bischof, author of the objectcomm package supplied in the 1.1 release. Rainer wanted the objectcomm package to be released as a beta, as it will probably change somewhat (not necessarily in interfaces, though). The core library is no longer thought of as beta anymore, although the optional objectcomm package is included with it.
