xmlroff 0.3.99 -- Development snapshot

xmlroff (http://xmlroff.org) is an XSL formatter written in C. xmlroff 0.3.99 is a snapshot of the progress towards xmlroff 0.4.0. It includes an xmlroff manpage generated from DocBook XML, improvements in the experimental Cairo backend, and truly experimental SVG output.

xmlroff FreeBSD port available

xmlroff is an XSL Formatter written in C that produces PDF or PostScript output. xmlroff is now part of the FreeBSD ports collection at http://www.freshports.org/textproc/xmlroff/. Thanks go to James Earl and Hiroki Sato for producing the port.

xmlroff 0.3.0 -- Free and PDFlib-free

xmlroff (http://xmlroff.org) is an XSL Formatter written in C that produces PDF and PostScript. xmlroff 0.3.0 builds solely on open source software since it no longer supports a PDFlib backend. It also plays well with GNOME desktops since it uses Pango and the new PangoXSL library (from the PangoPDF project) instead of the previous PangoPDF library.

xmlroff needs libgnomeprint 2.8.0 patch

For current xmlroff versions to correctly produce text with both foreground and background colours, you need to apply the patch at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154574 to libgnomeprint 2.8.0 (or come up with an equivalent solution).
