[xmlroff] xmlroff-list on Gmane? Yes or no?

I have received notice that the xmlroff-list has been added to the
Gmane mail-to-news gateway/archive.  I have also been provided the
option of having xmlroff-list not listed on Gmane.

If you want to see Gmane in action, this post should shortly be
available at
http://news.gmane.org/thread.php?group=gmane.text.xml.xmlroff.general

However, the DocBook list and/or the DocBook-Apps list is currently
hosting a sometimes heated discussion about whether or not Gmane is:

 a) Useful

 b) Rude for ignoring no-archive headers

 c) A goldmine for spammers harvesting addresses

 d) All of the above

Presumably at least one current subscriber wants Gmane to gateway this
list.  Given that some people on other lists are strongly anti-Gmane,
is there anything approaching consensus on this list about whether to
Gmane or not to Gmane?
