#6 Enhancement Request: Support proxy servers

No

XMLA connect doesn't use the HTTP proxy server settings defined in Internet Explorer. So if your XMLA server is firewalled off (e.g. on the internet) there's no ability to connect via a proxy.

Note that the "Microsoft OLE DB PRovider for Analysis Services" does support this.

Version 1.0.0.5 should implement this. We need somebody to validate the functionality.

    Hi Alexandra

Just tried this and unfortunately it doesn't work for me.

An easy way to test for proxy servers is to install Fiddler.

Once running it'll automatically configure Internet Explorer to use proxy servers. You can then browse to the Xmla service using IE and see the traffic being listed in Fiddler.

Unfortunately when attempting to create a new connection when I enter the connection details it's still going directly to the web service and not via the proxy.

Drop me a line if you'd like to see this via a WebEx/GoToMeeting.

    Hi Guys

Quick question - is there any update on the pending release with proxy support.
We have an MS Forefront proxy server which requires authentication on our corporate lan ... currently the only way to run the xmlaconnect plugin from Excel is to first disable the use of proxy in the win7 control panel 'internet options'.

PS - I am using the available download for xmlconnect which performs brilliantly in every regard, just hoping to see the proxy issue resolved!

    Thanks

    Phil
