Is the project abandoned and outdated?

hi,
I'm looking for a way to connect excel to mondrian XMLA datasource. I have found two recomendations: use XMLA Connect or SimbaO2X. But most of mentions come from 2015, SimbaO2X's links are dead and XMLA Connect has not been updated for three years.
Also I cannot find any mentions about such connectors during last years.
Is that approach to connect outdated? What is more actual way to connect excel mondrian or jedox OLAP?
With feel of pain any answer would be appreciated! :)

I have built cubes in Mondrian over Vertica and connected Excel with your driver, it works.
But I still don't understand why activity around XMLA connector and Mondrian CE have fallen to zero. It looks like I'm trying to get milk from dead cow :(
