Frusty, after finally updating your changes here locally I can't run any of our demo applications using your modified launch-configuration. xmlob always fails: java.lang.NullPointerException at java.io.Reader.<init>(Reader.java:61) at java.io.InputStreamReader.<init>(InputStreamReader.java:55) at org.xmlob.gw.simple.XMLOBHTTPRequestHandler.sendFile(XMLOBHTTPRequestHandler.java:177) at org.xmlob.gw.simple.XMLOBHTTPRequestHandler.sendBootFiles(XMLOBHTTPRequestHandler.java:104) at org.xmlob.gw.simple.XMLOBHTTPRequestHandler.handleRequest(XMLOBHTTPRequestHandler.java:85) at org.xmlob.gw.simple.XMLOBHTTPRequestHandler.run(XMLOBHTTPRequestHandler.java:68) After debugging it, it looks like xmlob fails to find the JavaScript files needed for boot-up (sendBootFiles). What solved this problem for me was to add the path to xmlob ( and xmlvm, too) to the classpath, using the "Advanced" button. I think this is because you changed the launchConfig to use the projects xmlvm and xmlob rather than the compiled jar-files? -- Sascha Wolfgang Korn wrote: > Guys, > > I just updated XML11's launch configuration and the run target. Guys, I just updated XML11's launch configuration and the run target. JARs are no longer referenced via the boot classpath. Instead the regular classpath is used. -- Frusty |

Having a separate project sounds reasonable. That would probably work for = AWT as well. But from my point of view the AWT plugin is a little bit spec= ial. I think that AWT is a kind of core plugin which should be more integr= ated into the main build process (should be built and made available autom= atically during the main build). For contributed 3rd party plugins like GM= ap the loose coupling using a separate project should be ok. -- Frusty > -----Urspr=FCngliche Nachricht----- > Von: XML11 Developer List <xml...@li...> > Gesendet: 04.08.06 10:13:07 > An: XML11 Developer List <xml...@li...> > Betreff: Re: [XML11-devel] Plugin Development This seems to be a proper solution. Guys, this is long over-due but I finally want to move XMLVM and XMLOB to SourceForge. The way this is done by creating a tar-ball and sending it to SourceForge. Someone there imports it to their CVS repository. This might take a couple of days. Therefore: please let me know if you have any un-committed changes in either of those projects. Also, don't make any changes over the next couple of days. Arno |

we can do it the same way we do it for XMLVM and XMLOB: have seperate=20 CVS modules and copy the .jar files to XML11. The AWT Plugin is=20 obviously needed by XML11, so we would do the same to keep XML11 self=20 contained. Arno Sascha H=E4berling wrote: > This seems to be a proper solution. Sascha, I also see the problem with multiple plugin folders. My thought was having= XML11's plugin folder seperate from the plugin's directory structure. Thi= s means that an additional step is required to make plugins available to X= ML11 (which is basically copying them from the plugin's jar folder to XML1= 1's plugin folder). This can be automated using the plugin's ant script. T= he only open question is about naming/placing the folders - only one (plug= in development folder or XML11's plugin folder) can be named plugin. -- Frusty > -----Urspr=FCngliche Nachricht----- > Von: XML11 Developer List <xml...@li...> > Gesendet: 04.08.06 09:52:53 > An: XML11 Developer List <xml...@li...> > Betreff: Re: [XML11-devel] Plugin Development Hi Wolfgang, >=20 > Wolfgang Korn wrote: > Hi, > its good to hear that you integrated the plugins. would it be in idea to open up a new CVS module with all the plugins? You can still reference it from within XML11 via ../XML11Plugins/... or something. This way you can also make it a proper Eclipse project without polluting XML11 itself. Hey Guys, I changed the structure in the "plugins_src" directory according to what we talked about today. It's much clearer and easier now I think, and the javascript source is now directly included, which means that version control takes effect. Short explanation of the new structure: Within "plugins_src" there is one directory for every plugin (currently just GMap). In GMap you find "client_js". This is where all the javascript files are. You also see "server". This is where the java source files can be found. Also the "bin" directory is there, where the config.xml resides and the compiled class files will be moved to. In the root of GMap you also finde the build.xml, which makes it easy to compile, pack and move everything to the "plugins" directory. Just type "ant" to perform all of these steps at once. If you just want to compile, type "ant make_server". If you want to compile and make the jar, type "ant jar". Sascha |

Guys, if you fix bugs reported to the SourceForge bug tracker, please write a short note indicating the reason which caused the reported behaviour and what you did to fix it. Thanx! -- Frusty |

Frusty, problem solved - although I didn't find the troublemaker. I tried it with my installed jdk1.5.0_04 and it worked right away. I then downloaded and installed a fresh jdk1.5.0_07 and it also worked. Something seems to be wrong with my jdk1.5.0_06 installation. So ... false alarm, sorry for that :) Sascha Sascha Haeberling wrote: > Frusty, > > I was using Ant 1.6.2 but after you mail updated to 1.6.5. I'm sorry to hear that :-( Sascha please report a bug to the bug tracker (= Category: Build Process). I will try to reproduce that on my Linux box. Frusty, I was using Ant 1.6.2 but after you mail updated to 1.6.5. The two warnings at the beginning are gone now, but the error persists.=20 Furthermore I'm using jdk1.5.0_06 (directly from sun). Haven't updated to 07 yet, but I think this has nothing to do with this problem. It used to work in the past on this machine. I am working with ant on other projects and it still works fine. But the ant-scripts I use there are not that "fancy". Just basic javac command with some depended libraries. Sascha Wolfgang Korn wrote: > Sascha, > > which version of Ant and JDK do you use? Hi everybody, yesterday I tested all the demos on my Linux machine. Everything works like a charm. And this after these huge changes: Really great work!! After testing everything out of eclipse I wanted to test the ant scripts, but something goes wrong here. Attached you find the log. JAVA_HOME is set correctly. Arno, for the same reason (external dependencies) I would not recommend adding t= his target to our "official" build script. My suggestion is to create a "p= rivate" build script for this, which is not part of the official distribut= ion. For this you can start with the gateway-targets file and modify the c= lasspaths. Frusty, I'm currently looking into the bug you have posted and would like to make a request for a new ant-target. As you know, XMLOB and XMLVM are bundled in XML11 and the run-target references these jar files. When debugging XMLVM, the development cycle is rather tedious: make a change in XMLVM, generate a new JAR file, copy it over to XML11/lib and re-run XML11. Under the assumption that XML11, XMLVM, and XMLOB are all checked out into the same directory, would it be possible to create a 'run-local' target that references XMLVM not through XML11/lib/xmlvm.jar, but by adding ../xmlvm/ to the classpath? That would make my life a lot easier... Arno PS. I'm already doing this under Eclipse with a local launch configuration that follows the same idea. The reason I have not committed this launch configuration is to avoid external dependencies that would otherwise not be necessary. |
