The application had been running fine for 2 days, but this morning when I try to open it I get:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

      OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.4
      Locale ID: 1033

I have tried in order: uninstalling through Control Panel - remove programs, deleting the downloaded file from my download folder, re-booting, redownloading, and re-installing. Same error.
Have also run chkdsk-no errors. My event log only has an Application Error.
Any ideas? I'm not the geekiest kid on the block so the simpler the explanation the less I have to bug you to explain the explanation.
    TIA,
    RJ

thanks Robyn, I think Xerces (the parser that handles validation-as-you-type) is tripping up over a file. Reloading the application usually re-opens the files that were previously shown in the editor. I really need to move the configuration data (which is where the list of previously open tabs is saved) from the registry to a file on the disk. Do you have regedit access (Win+R, regedit)?

The config info sits under the subkey:

    Software\SourceForge Project\XML Copy Editor

You can safely clear the list of files in that area (but do take care not to change registry keys that aren't related to the application).

I really need to switch to a file-based config system. Apologies!
