Hello,
I could not find anyway the regex syntax that you use for replacement, is-it :
P-Cre
Javascript
Python
etc...
9I check this string as simple test : "IMG_0917.JPG"
/(IMG_[0-9]+).(JPG)/ to be replaced by /EOS70D-SD01A-&1.$2/
it evals : /EOS70D1-SD01A-&1.$2/ with no error (as a fixed string)
but what is the right syntax to get as filename : "EOS70D1-SD01A-IMG_0917.JPG"
Note I have more complex regexps with alternate word, conditional etc...
By your name you seem to be Canadian or French. I am French.
I am trying to find a good tool to rename files which are coming from SDCard of photo or movies that have naturally stored by incremental saving into directories which are named :
<producer>/<type and="" of="" ref="" equipment="">/<sdcardnumber&refill_indicator>/<backupdate>/DCIM/<folder_in_sdcard>/<filename>
Form this I must extract path elements and rename the file using these.
I am not sure that your soft can be used to get regex vars from the whole path of selected files.</filename></folder_in_sdcard></backupdate></sdcardnumber&refill_indicator></type></producer>
Best regards

Bonjour Trebly !
For the syntax, it follows Perl rules, the best language for regex! Based on what you described, XL-FileTools should do exactly what you want. You can use Preview to see the result before doing it for real and you can also use a sample if you want to be sure.
For the syntax, EOS70D1-SD01A-$1.$2 as the replacement value should do the job and you don't need to check Eval option, as follow :
