The xIrc project has been with SourceForget (http://sourceforge.net) for one year now. The project team thanks its user base for its support and patronage. With the new release of KDE 2.1, KDevelop 1.4, and Qt-2.2.4 (or higher), the project team will investigate these new releases and incorporate new features.

There are two new sites referencing xIrc application. The first site is http://apps.kde.com. Look in the categories for Enterprise, Communications, Irc. The second site referencing xIrc is http://computerland.de, a German download website.

xIrc is available in the axp1 directory of SuSE Linux. Current SuSE Linux 6.3 to 7.0 has an rpm called xirc.rpm, which is the xIrc-2.3.2 program. After the Project manager NightBird contacted the current xirc maintainer for SuSE Linux, he will included current and new releases of xIrc in future distributions of SuSE Linux. The xIrc download directory is being mirrorred by SuSE Linux.

xIrc reached another milestone - over 4,000 downloads. I am satisified of xIrc's progress during the last five months. Many code corrections have been made and several releases followed suite with new Qt Widget Library upgrades. Still, the xIrc's code needs review, analysis, and, of course, enhancements as well as the documentation. xIrc-2.3.7 is expected to be released at the end of August. Due to low demand, I discontinued the creation of Solaris 7 x86 binaries with xIrc. Nevertheless, the Source RPM and binary RPM files are available for Linux. See http://xIrc.sourceforge.net/download.html to download RPM files.
The pre-compiled Linux RPM file for xIrc-2.3.6 is available at http://xIrc.sourceforge.net/download.html. The file requires Qt-2.1.1 or higher and glibc-2.1 or higher.

xIrc is now ported to use Qt 2.1.1 or higher Widget Library. With this Qt widget library, many fixes to messages display to the main window were fixed. The tarball is availabe on the download page.
