I have been trying to build Xine for the last day or so and I keep getting
stuck. This is all happening on:
SUN Sparc Solaris 9
After downloading and installing all this GNU stuff I am now at:
+ Running aclocal: done.
+ Running libtoolize: done.
+ Running autoheader: autom4te: need GNU m4 1.4 or later: /usr/ccs/bin/m4
autoheader: /usr/local/bin/autom4te failed with exit status: 1
+ Running automake: autom4te: need GNU m4 1.4 or later: /usr/ccs/bin/m4
configure.ac: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE' must be used
automake: your implementation of AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE comes from an
automake: old Automake version. You should recreate aclocal.m4
automake: with aclocal and run automake again.
automake: no `Makefile.am' found or specified
+ Running autoconf: autom4te: need GNU m4 1.4 or later: /usr/ccs/bin/m4
+ Running 'configure ':
** If you wish to pass arguments to ./configure, please
** specify them on the command line.
./autogen.sh: ./configure: not found
What is so weird about GNU M4 that I have to have it rather than the one I've
got? Is that the whole problem, or is there something else broken too? I'm
downloading GNU M4 now, but I really hate to have to clutter up my system with
multiple copies of everything.
Please reply to me directly: I have not yet taken the plunge and subscribed to
any Xine mailing lists. If I start making some real progress *then* maybe I'll
have something useful to say.
