I have the same problem. Very annoying and have had no luck in
tracking down the problem. This is on a 1GHz athlon so I would expect
no problems.

I tried turning off double buffering and it made no difference.
Although it is not clear to me what library provides the X video
extensions, you can find out what extensions you have by using xvinfo.
