Well I'd really like to give 1.1.1 a try, but: is it a stable release? I think I saw word about 1.1.0 that it is *not*, and from a quick glimpse on 1.1.0 I could gather that it behaves more... jerky than 1.0.x. Anyway, 1.0.3 should play theora, too, right? I compiled against libtheora 1.0alpha5, that ok or API too new? Nope, indeed I don't. Which is odd since the configure script said it was enabled to build. Ideas? |

If you're using a package-based distro, perhaps you haven't installed the devel package for libtheora? If you've installed libtheora in a non-standard place, you might need to specify --with-theora-prefix to xine-lib's configure. During configure you should see a line that looks like: checking for Theora... yes And at the end: * video decoder plugins: [...] - theora Cheers, Jason. |

I compiled libtheora from src so I guess it should be all set. prefixed it to /usr. The funny part is configure *did* list theora for video decoders like you showed below. In /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.1.1 there's no theora decoder plugin. for laughs I ran make in src/libtheora - went fine and produed the plugin, but I guess I can't copy it? has to be relinked, right? You could try it. What's the worst that could happen? ;) It won't need to be relinked, anyway. It's a dynamically linked library.
