Well, I finally got xine to play h.264 video from a .mov file. I took Dexter's advice after I tried to get 1.1.0 lib and 99.4 ui running unsuccessfully and went through my system and deleted all xine related files. Between the original Slackware xine-lib 1.0.0 installation and my 1.1.0/99/4 attempt I had files in the "standard" directories and the old ones in Slackware's non-standard directories. IE. libxine in /usr/lib instead of /usr/local/lib, which meant there were two libxine.so.1 libraries... After the clean I rebuilt/installed xine-lib 1.1.0, did an ldconfig and then rebuilt/installed xine-ui 0.99.4. Lo and behold I could play the h.264 video. It brought tars to my eyes :-). Now the only glitch is if I start xine with no input specified I get two error windows about not finding an input plugin to handle /usr/share/xine/skins/xine-ui_logo.mpv. Oh well, worry about that later. I can play h.264. Thanks for all who responded and helped me out. tj |
