I have been troubleshooting why mencoder options that should have given me higher
quality results were actually looking much worse when I compared two videos running
side by side with xine. Finally it occurred to me that regardless of options, even
running the same clip side by side, the 2nd clip to start always looked very obviously
I ran xine with full verbosity and noticed this difference in startup:
First Clip Second Clip
video_out_xv: using Xv port 139 from adaptor NV17 Video Overlay for hardware colorspace conversion an | video_out_xv: using Xv port 140 from adaptor NV05 Video Blitter for hardware colorspace conversion an
video_out_xv: double buffering mode = 1 | video_out_xv: no port attributes defined.
video_out_xv: port attribute XV_COLORKEY (6) value is 66046 <
video_out_xv: port attribute XV_AUTOPAINT_COLORKEY (7) value is 1 <
video_out_xv: port attribute XV_BRIGHTNESS (5) value is 24 <
video_out_xv: port attribute XV_CONTRAST (4) value is 4447 <
video_out_xv: port attribute XV_SATURATION (3) value is 3529 <
video_out_xv: port attribute XV_HUE (2) value is 0 <
Yes, I have an Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4200 with Nvidia's 4496 driver.
So how do I force it to play as if it's the 2nd clip, but on the 1st time? ; )
