I want to know what refresh rate I should set my monitor to for optimal
For an NTSC DVD, when I look at the stream information, it tells me each
frame is 3753 PTS. So I assume that it is playing a 24 frame source
slightly slower at 23.9808 FPS (I guess this is so it can make
a 29.97 FPS version with a 2/3 pulldown).
If I set my monitor refresh rate to 60Hz, will xine know to play the DVD
at 30FPS using a 2/3 pulldown (no NTSC slow-down)?
If I set my monitor refresh rate to 59.94Hz, will xine know to play the
DVD at 29.97FPS using a 2/3 pulldown?
Perhaps because it is a 24 frame source I could use a monitor refresh
rate of 72Hz or 71.94Hz (if I have to account for NTSC slow down).
Maybe xine automatically alters it's playback speed and pulldown method
to optimally match whatever monitor refresh rate is being used?
For instance, if I set my monitor refresh rate to 60.1Hz, will xine know
to play the DVD at 30.05 FPS using a 2/3 pulldown?

No, I'm afraid it doesn't. In fact xine pays no real attention to your
refresh rate at all.
