one thing that I have always been wondering about is why there is no
support for xine's built-in compressor in xine-ui.
so, finally i decided to hack it in - patch is attached. it allows the
user to switch on/off xine's compressor (2x or off) using the
audio->volume menu - of course one could implement a much fancier
slider, but a simple toggle option works for me (usefull for e.g.
listening to podcasts where the producers didn't manage to set up
audio levels on different mikes in a sensible way)
