i guess that xine-fontconv is always to blame. ;-)
just the border was cut, not the letter itself, so the size of the
bitmap was probably underestimated.
the first example is interesting, the '=F3' was cut on the right but there
is plenty of space on the left side. i don't know if this is a buggy
font or some freetype property we are not handling correctly.
originally i wanted to have the smallest bitmap as possible from
xine-fontconv so text wouldn't be rendered l i k e t h a t.=20
now that osd.c renderer supports nice character overlapping this is not
really an issue. It looks like the borders of the 'A' you sent were
