Category: gxine Group: None Status: Open Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Darren Salt (dsalt) Summary: gxine 0.5.2 crashes on startup: "ReloadLIRC: missing action" Initial Comment: I compiled gxine myself on a Slackware 10.2 + Freerock GNOME 2.12.1 system. When I try to start it, I get the following error messages: (gxine:12256): Gtk-WARNING **: ReloadLIRC: missing action (gxine:12256): Gtk-CRITICAL **: find_menu_position: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (pr ev_child)' failed (gxine:12256): Gtk-CRITICAL **: find_menu_position: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (pr ev_child)' failed (gxine:12256): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance (gxine:12256): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data: assertion `G_TYP E_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed (gxine:12256): Gtk-WARNING **: ReloadLIRC: missing action (gxine:12256): Gtk-CRITICAL **: find_menu_position: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (pr ev_child)' failed (gxine:12256): Gtk-CRITICAL **: find_menu_position: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (pr ev_child)' failed (gxine:12256): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance (gxine:12256): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data: assertion `G_TYP E_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed Segmentation fault ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dagmar d'Surreal (evildagmar) Date: 2005-12-23 04:49 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1167677 Bah... ignore me. Another thing I'm not used to with this tracker is the reverse order the comments get displayed in. I'll try to ferret out the changes from CVS and backport it into a test package tomorrow night while I'm at the office. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dagmar d'Surreal (evildagmar) Date: 2005-12-23 04:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1167677 In my quest for getting a working *inline* mutlimedia plugin for Dropline's Firefox (totem, for reasons unknown, doesn't work for me although it works for some of the other devs), I came across this very bug, stomped it flat and turned it's dried and pressed remains into a patch that can be found at http://www.droplinegnome.org/home/dagmar/gxine-0.5.2-purgelirc.diff This tracker doesn't seem to let me upload a patch like I'm used to, so there it is. Basically, if you're not linking against LIRC, there were some calls to LIRC that didn't get wrappered with ifdefs. This patch adds enough of them to make it build, although I didn't go so far as to hack up the Makefile to keep it from building the lirc.o component--I'll leave it to dsalt to manage that bit. This will merely get the thing to build and work properly without lirc being around. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Darren Salt (dsalt) Date: 2005-12-21 16:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=294680 It's fixed, but you may need to wait for another hour or two. $ grep '\$Id' src/menu.c * $Id: menu.c,v 1.73 2005/12/21 18:34:09 dsalt Exp $ (Time is GMT.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2005-12-21 16:02 Message: Logged In: NO tryed from cvs, exactly the same error... Fedora Core 4, Gnome 2.12.2. Xine lib 1.1.1, Kernel 2.6.14-1.1653_FC4. Prior versions of Gxine ran fine. It could be just perception, but I thought that 0.5.2 did a make much faster than prior builds.
