otherwise tvtime, kdetv, or even that TV suite thing,

I do have XawTV working on my mdk10.1 x86_64 as well as tvtime & kdetv.

secondly, why does xine no tuning? it'd be much better with tuning.

note that you might get non-functional stuff sometimes, if you use the nvid=
ia=20
drivers...
