Hi everyone. I'm new here and I'm new to Linux. Since I want to switch over to Linux for= =20 good, I've got to get everything running and now I'm working on my=20 DVD-Problem. I use the new SUSE Linux 9.0, which altogether is very newbie friendly. The= =20 xine-lib and the xine-ui that come with it are installed. But it seems that= ,=20 due to legal "uncertainties" about css it doesn't come with the nessecary=20 plugin to play my DVDs. I've been looking around on the net but couldn't find instructions that hel= ped=20 me find and install the proper plugin. Since I'm a real newbie to Linux the instructions, some nice person will=20 hopefully give me, can't be detailed enough. I would like to know where doe= s=20 Linux install packages by default (there seems to be nothing compareable to= =20 Programs in Windows) , how does configuring, compiling and =A0installing of= =20 sourcecode work. I already downloaded the a plugin which I configured with ./configure, but = it=20 told me that iI should install xine first cause it couldn't find xine-confi= g.=20 Manually I couldn't find 'xine-config' anywhere either, but it is installed. I'm looking forward to some help, and hope no one is offended either by the= =20 triviality of my problem nor by the legal issue concerning the css. I just= =20 want to watch my legally purchased DVDs without Microsoft products. Thanks alot in advance. Denis=20 |
