It means exactly what it says: the configure script found an old version of xine. More exactly, it found your old /usr/bin/xine-config. After removing that, it may already work. If it doesn't, just continue following the instructions: I guess you installed xine-lib with prefix /usr/local/xine, just as you configured xine-ui. In that case you have to $ export XINE_CONFIG=/usr/local/xine/bin/xine-config (that's what it says above) or add /usr/local/xine/bin to your PATH (preferrably at the beginning) Additionally, you have to do either of these: 1) add this line to /etc/ld.so.conf: /usr/local/xine/lib and then run "ldconfig" as root. 2) export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/xine/bin:"$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" The first one is a permanent solution, the second one does the same temporarily for testing.
