Sorry that this took so long. A slightly modified version of your patch 
is in cvs now. The modification is to prevent the double slash in the 
MRL when specifying a DVD path. So you would now write:
dvd:/dev/hdc/1.2
That conforms better to xine's MRL syntax. I hope this is ok for you.
