Standard functions as 'View', 'Edit'... should ever be visible in the context menu. It is not a very good solution, to make the context menu items dependend on a part of the filename instead of the files MIME type.
It is a worse solution, to suppress standard functions dependend on the filename (or the MIME type). For example to view into a zipped file (which indeed is a masked text file) I first have to rename this file. This is ugly Windows behaviour I hoped to get finally rid of when changing to an operating system. Don't try to make a software more clever than it's user.
