Hi,

I noticed that copying a folder with the name "Listen
to me..." to a samba share will mangle the name to
somewhat like "LTAQ(etc)~1" because the dots at the and
are not allowed on MS filesystems. While on real MS
filesystems the dots are simply cut off (and therefore
the filename appears at least readable) samba can't do
so and therefore mangles the filename.

Could we get a warning in xfe when this happens?

Rather than comparing each file or folder which is
copied we could have a ruleset to see if there are file
names which do not conform to the MS/samba conventions.
This ruleset should be applied each time *before* a
file or folder is copied to a samba share and give a
warining.

I think there are even more filesystems which each have
conventions to respect.

Thanks
Felix
