#198 more entries in the "open with" context menu of a file

Hi Roland,
the current "Open With..." in the context menu offers the possitiblity to enter a free command to open the current file with.
It would be nice to have some preconfigured programms/commands there in this sub-menu.

e.g. PDF-files are opened (per double-click) with "evince" in my system. But sometimes I need to open it with "okular". In that case I want to select "okular" in the Open-With-submenu.
It is quite time intensive to enter "okular" each time.

And there are some other cases (e.g. picture files) where it would be nice to have such menu entries.

In the "Open With..." dialog box, just click on the small triangle button of the combo box and you will see a list of commands you already used. If you typed 'okular', then you should see it in this list.

That is not what I talked about. Of course I know how to use a combo box. Using the "Open With..." dialog for that case is unefficent. I need to much clicks for that.
That is why I would prefere the context-menu with more then one entry as I described.

Ok, sorry for the mistake ! You can simply create a script (see the doc) that calls the app you wants, and you will have to click on the Scripts menu voice before. For now, this is the best I can offer...

    You missunderstood me again. ;)

    This wasn't a support-question. It was a feature request.

Currently your software doesn't offer this feature. (This script solution is a workaround - nothing more.)
So I ask to implement it.
If you think this is a nice idea just put it on the todo-list or leave this feature request open.

    That is all.

Who and when this will be implemented doesn't matter at this point. This is open source. :)

Feature request are IMHO are to document user wishes and the opinion of the maintainers about that.

So now another developer can see this feature would be accepted if someone offer code for that. This means spending energy in that wouldn't be wasted time.

Please keep in mind. Currently you block other developers participating to your project because your code is not accessible over a repository. You only over a tar-ball for download.
Please use a code-repository (e.g. git on GitHub) or something like that.

Thanks for your interest in Xfe.

I would extend/modify this request a bit.... If I use 3 different apps for dealing with an MP3 type file (player, integrity checker, tag editor), I don't mind manually associating the file type MP3 to several apps. I'd ask just to provide me a list of "you've already used these apps for this file type" in the right click combo box (store what I've already used, without limiting me to a single association). Seems like a simpler process: If I associate an app to a file, store the data for multiple apps, then look up and present the apps according to file type. Extending the XFE file association by using indexing functions reading from existing WM/DE databases of MIME types might be a big task due to multiple WM/DE methods.

Sorry for multiple edits, I tend to re-read after posting.
