No

When creating a symbolic link, Xfe doesn't respond to:

  • double-clicking the target file
  • pressing the Enter key after selecting the target file, unless the cursor is in the "File Name:" editbox

Xfe 2.1.1

    This still doesn't work in Xfe 2.1.4. Can you confirm?

      Yes it works. But maybe you tested with a file that is associated with a program that does not exist. Ex: if pdf files are associated to atril and atril does not exist, then a dialog is open to let you choose a program.
      I realize I could improve this by informing the user that the associated program does not exist.

    I don't understand. Isn't this supposed to do the same thing ln(1) does on the command-line, or am I expecting something that isn't there?

    1. Right-click > New File > "text.txt" > Accept
    2. Right-click > New Symlink > "link" > Accept
      3.1. Double-click on "text.txt" -> nothing
      3.2. Press "Enter" -> nothing
      3.3. Click "Ok" -> a symbolic link called "link" is successfully created

      At point 3.1, a dialog is open and you have to click (not double click) to select the file you want to symlink. Then click on Accept and you'll get your symlink.

      But indeed, there is a bug: pressing enter in the dialog when a file is selected should close the dialog.

    Yes, like point 3.3.

    But is there a reason for disabling double-clicking in this particular file selection dialog box?

    Double-clicking works fine for selecting files in:

    • Filter > Select Destination
    • Add Bookmark > Select Icon
      etc.
