Hi,
Weird issue since installing Xubuntu 24.10: the launcher shows the correct icon but when xfe is launched, then the icon shown is a big plus sign (see screenshot).
I tried to give the icon path in a custom .desktop file but no change. I tested with another application and I guess that the icon is embedded in the binary file.
Thus it may be a compatibility issue with the xfce panel that displays the application icons.
I tried to change the panel size, no luck.
The icon changed once to the correct one when I tried to search the usr/share/icons folders for the available versions of the icon. But no idea how it could have changed anything (I did open one or 2 versions os the icons like the svg one).
Note: same issue with the snap store application. Thus, it may be a not a problem in the xfe code but a setting somewhere that confuses xfce. It works fine for all the other applications.
Hi, thanks for the bug report.
I was able to reproduce the issue in Xubuntu 24.10, but not in Xubuntu 24.04.1. I used the same Xfe version 1.46.2 in both distributions.
So the problem was probably introduced in the new XFCE 4.19. It seems that it is not a stable version, as is said in the release notes of Xubuntu 24.10. Note that the Xfe window has the correct icon and the desktop applet also has the correct icon.
I tested Xfe with OpenBox and there is no such icon problem. Same with GNOME or KDE Plasma.
So I think the problem is related to a bug in the new XFCE 4.19. Maybe it's time to report a bug to their dev team?
