I can't create folders in Ubuntu 14.04. I can get the box, but I can't type in a folder name to create it.

I understand that, but what I don't know is if I should remove the old one first, or will the below update it, keep my settings, and not leave junk behind, or? Thanks!

Software version is 1.37
I can confirm the same thing on Zorin 9 .. which is ubuntu based.
If I launch as : sudo xfe
I can type in any of the XFE dialogs just fine.
Same here. On Xubuntu 14.04 cannot write in search dialog.
See:

Look at information provided by Morbius1, about IBUS. It worked for me.
sudo apt-get purge ibus and works for me too. Thanks!
Works on Zorin 9 too ... thank you!
XFE is by far my favorite file manager for linux

You should see Xfe 1.40 in Ubuntu 15.04, in april 2015.
Anyway, you can download unofficial Ubuntu packages (14.04 and above) here:

How do I install this one? Synaptic Package Manager ?
Will this update itself as updates come out?
Do I need to uninstall the current version first?

dpkg -i replaces the old package with the new one.
