Could you please use the ICU ubidi_setClassCallback() function (with some new XeTeX primitive?) to add the possibility to the XeTeX user to assign directionality to PUA characters? Here is a link to the fuction: https://unicode-org.github.io/icu-docs/apidoc/released/icu4c/ubidi_8h.html#a69be01f3b9f17fc7cc604b10fa31c2f4
This is very important because in a font I created with about 8,000 PUA characters I have to use ^^^^202e in front of each one of them to get the directionality righht and therefore have no possibility to get kerning.
Thanks in advance,
Yannis

Hi Yannis - as far as I know, no one is developing XeTeX any more. If you can make a patch, I can apply it. Otherwise, I doubt this will happen. Sorry, but that's the reality to the best of my knowledge. (Jonathan or Arthur or anyone, you can chime in if it's something you can work on.)
