Chris, As RK mentioned, until Xerces is integrated into Xenocide, we do not have official XML parser. Xerces so far is our first choice and your comments about it are really appreciated. We will definitely take them into account. I am glad to hear that you are still eager to work on Xenocide. Unfortunately there is no definite assignment I can give. The only thing I can suggest is to pick work on Geodata classes. We used to discuss them here in the list and Wolfman was going to work on them. However, I have not heard from him for last couple months. Best regards, mamutas -----Original Message----- From: xen...@li... [mailto:xen...@li...] On Behalf Of chr...@ju... Subject: Re: [Xenocide-programming] xercesc I understand that there are no plans to support any platforms past Windows and I agree with the reasoning on this. Initially I agreed with your reasoning regarding Xerces, but my experiences with it have changed my mind. It is for good reason that projects like this aren't quite Democracitc, but I encourage some of the more senior coders to take the time to just get Xerces working. Give it a run and see what you think. All we need to know at this point is if it will work? I've been trying to get it to work so that I can (finally) finish the xnet loader. Since we moved from BCB6 I can't develop in windows. That really doesn't matter for classes like the XNDL though. I can code these classes using gcc, and they should compile fine in VS.net. That's the best I can do until I get WinXP (I don't know when that will be). I would like to contribute code in some way. I can work on something that doesn't require Xerces. Xerces seems to require a (very) outdated version of gcc to compile in Linux. It would be dangerous for me to try and install an older version of gcc over what I have. Hopefully it can be made to work in windows. In the meantime I would like to participate in any code that can be developed outside of VS.net.
