Jo You obviously expect too much from your software - fancy expecting it to be easy to use - what are you thinking? You probably expect to jump into any car on the planet and expect to be able to drive it. Far too much software is built without any consideration for the end user. As an example, take TLL. It does everything that it was designed to do. Unfortunately, the user interface does NOT help the poor user to navigate around easily, or to do common things in a straightforward manner. See http://digilander.libero.it/chiediloapippo/Engineering/iarchitect/mshame.htm and http://www.umlchina.com/GUI/ShameRecent.htm for (dated) examples. Hell - I only used Xena properly last week and I had no idea what I should be doing to get it to work. I assumed it would be easier than it was for this very reason. -----Original Message----- From: xen...@li... Subject: RE: [Xena-devel] Xena dataset - Simon I agree that there is this perception, and I also agree that it isn't right. I don't know why it has formed except that maybe people *want* a magic solution becuase they thnk the issues are very difficult to deal with and a magic button that did everything would mean less effort for them? I really don't know, but I don't think decisions about Xena directions should be determined by external perceptions of current/desired functionality. They certainly won't be while I have any say in the matter :) Andrew -----Original Message----- From: xen...@li... Andrew, you're closer to the action: do you know why people are thinking like this?
