XDrawChem 1.8 is now available at:
The most significant change in this release involves the
network database. The database back-end has been changed
to PHP/MySQL, allowing faster DB access and more query
options. Further, the underlying data source has been
considerably improved. Database access is still located in
File/Find on Internet, or Ctrl+F.
* The database can now also look up molecules by structure.
This feature requires Python and Frowns
(http://frowns.sourceforge.net/). After installing and
testing Frowns, select Tools/Molecule info and select a
molecule, and if it is among the 112,000 molecules
currently known to the database, the name and CAS number
will be reported.
Some small changes were made to the menu structure, and a
few bugs in the sf.net bug tracker were fixed.
I am trying to write my PhD thesis (currently due June 15),
so responses to e-mail will be even slower than usual.
Please submit bugs to the sf.net bug tracker, which is
linked on the XDrawChem home page. Also, to contact me
directly, please use bherger@...
