I would like to see you considering of getting rid of gnome dependencies.
Also I would like to see gtk+ 2.. version.
Why? Because not all of us want to use those feature bloated monsters gnome and kde. Shouldn't it be time to optimize ease of use also in compiling as well as using the free software.
GTK+ should be enough for everything.
This ensures programs run decently also on slower machines.
In my opinion minimal dependencies help us keep programs usable to entire group of linux users, and not only to those who install mainstream distributions.
